On Friday, September 21st, the Equal by 30 campaign welcomed the G7 nations of France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States as its newest signatories, joining Italy, Finland, Sweden and Canada in our goal of achieving gender equality in clean energy by 2030.

This extraordinary consensus was one of Canada’s proudest moments at the G7 Ministerial Meeting on Climate Change, Oceans and Energy in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was a great day for gender equality in clean energy.

At the G7 Ministerial, a panel discussion championing gender equality highlighted the benefits of gender diversity for clean energy innovation. Speakers included two Equal by 30 signatories: Meredith Adler of Student Energy, and Marie-Hélène Labrie of Enerkem. The panel also included Joanna Osawe of Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE), an important Equal by 30 partner. Following the discussion, leaders from each of the G7 countries pledged their commitment to the campaign.
